Armada fast launching
To make Armada launch faster, locate armada.exe in the
armada directory (normally C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek – Armada) drag
the armada.exe file to the desktop with the right button and select “create
shortcut here”. Now, Armada may be run using the icon on the desktop, skipping
the setup screen.
Sound issue fix for Windows XP
If you have a SoundBlaster card running under Windows XP,
you will probably have distorted sound during gameplay. To fix this, you will
need to disable hardware sound acceleration. To do this, right-click the
speaker icon in the system tray on the desktop, select “adjust audio
properties”, under speaker settings, click “advanced”, then click “performance”
and set “hardware acceleration” to the second notch, Basic acceleration. (Note:
this will not fix the multiplayer sync issues associated with XP)
Armada silent lobby
If you want rid of the Armada music in the lobby, you can
delete the following file:
C:\Program Files\Activision\Star Trek - Armada\sounds\effects\Shellsd0.wav.
Now the only sound you will hear is the
bleeps from clicking on buttons. If you prefer a completely silent lobby, run <THIS PROGRAM>
